About me

Hello!

I’m Deborah, the printmaker and painter behind bizzykeybee.

I create original linocut prints and paintings which reflect my love of animals, wildlife and the countryside.

For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed drawing and painting but science, music and languages took priority at school and my passion for nature and wildlife led me into a career in environmental education. Art continued to be a hobby, with occasional commissions and local exhibition entries. For over 25 years, alongside my career, I produced pet portraits, wildlife images and countryside and coastal scenes, mostly in pastel and acrylic.

A few years ago, looking to create my own Christmas cards, I became interested in printmaking and I have been experimenting with the linocut technique ever since. After drawing the design and carving the lino, the block is inked up and prints are made using a glass baren and metal spoon. Larger prints and cards are printed using an old book press, on loan from a fellow printmaker. Most of my prints are then partly hand painted, adding pops of colour or metallic effects. As each step in this process is done by hand, every linocut print is unique.

Now a full-time artist, I always have several paintings and print designs in progress. Ideas and inspiration come from the wildlife in my garden as well as countryside rambles, coastal walks and holidays. There’s inspiration everywhere. I only have to look out of the window and watch the wildlife in the garden and there’s something I want to capture in a painting or print.

Originally from Essex, I now live in a village on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

In my shop you will mainly find my lino prints and occasionally some mini acrylic paintings.

Thank you for visiting and if you have any questions do get in touch.
